Simple.... her new engagement ring looks like this....



I had the pleasure of helping her son kill his first deer today... and she helped him dress it out. That's an awesome gal!

When I followed mine through stinging nettles along the licking river near Morgan, Ky I knew I was going to ask the right one! She never complained about the nettles. I was about to "cry"

When she said that she was going fishing... did I want to come along.

When she told me.

Good on you. She must be a great gal.

My Mom alway dressed her own deer, while Dad was taking pictures. LOL

My wife tolerated me and my 11 year old G-dauhter processing a bull elk on her dining room table. She was not happy! But she tolerated it. My wife helped wrap the roasts and chops, but that is as close to bloody as she is going to get.

I never did. She advised, after three years of living together, that we should get married. I said OK.

And I always listen to my wife.

Back in the late 80's I was working for the Forest Service seasonally and trapping/calling coyotes in the winter. One season we had a late start to winter and we kept working into November so I was trapping nights and working days.

Etta and I were just dating at the time and she went with me one night to check traps. I ended up with 11 coyotes that night. About midnight I was hanging the first one up to skin knowing I had to be at work in eight short hours. Etta was about to leave for her apartment but came out to the fur shed and told me, "if you'll show me how, I'll help you skin."

I proposed on the spot. Didn't figure I'd get a better offer. That was 26 years ago and we still like each other.

After 35 years I must have made the right choice

When I would pack and leave for months at a time with little intel, she was always there on my return, always there, trusting, steadfast, gracious and caring by my side through it all.

Working on 44 years now! I saw how she treated her dad (old enough to need help), how she kept everything up, with no mom (died when she was 12), common sense, pretty as they come. She let me share in her burden, helped me with my parents when they got needing it. Now she is slowed with being older and the things that come.

When young you cvannot really know what the future brings, but a compatible marriage works through itd all.

I never was gone for very long at a time but she was all of that for fifty years and four months. When the preacher said 'till death do you part, we took him seriously.

Spot on Jerry. The last six years of my career had me away for months in whatever Bum-phook "Egypt" I was working at the time. She more than managed the three boys and they let her know of it all of the time. Every birthday or Christmas card they give has her break down in tears. I truly feel for those that have less stout partners.

I'm starting to get the "hint"

Uh, when she still loves you after eating the wedding cake?

I remember a story by Finn Aagard about how he met his wife. She had shot an animal in Africa and then dressed in a skirt dove right it and helped dress it. He decided right then she was the woman for him.

43 years next month; I'm beginning to think she was the right one.
But I didn't ask, I was informed.
Her birthday was today and she got a new Ruger LCP.
