Introduced in 1970, the Smith & Wesson 66 Combat Magnum was only the 2nd stainless steel revolver made by Smith & Wesson. Engineering changes were made over the years and designated with a "dash-" number after the model number (66-1, 66-2, etc). This is the original Model 66 commonly known as a “No Dash”, and was made in 1973. This 6-shot, square butt K-frame stainless steel revolver is configured with a 4" barrel, adjustable rear sight with red insert front sight, and color case hardened hammer and trigger. As it was made in 1973, it has all the desirable features no longer found on current Smiths: It has the square butt grip frame with wood grips, a pinned barrel and recessed cylinder, the firing pin is on the hammer, and there is no lock (new Smiths have round-butt frames with rubber grips, internal firing pins, and keyed locks that disable the firearm when turned to the lock position. They also stopped pinning the barrels and recessing the cylinders with counterbores back in 1981). This one is in excellent used condition with just a few light handling marks. It has very nice action, perfect timing, and a sharp bright bore. Please refer to the many detailed pics. Price is $750 plus $25 shipping from my FFL to yours. Thanks for looking. Don

Fine revolver there. I think I'm glad I don't need one.

Trying hard not to buy this. Wish it was just a bit closer to my budget, but I'm still evaluating my piggy bank and it is nervous.... Very nice piece... Bob

If you are going to get one you might as well get a nice one. This is a nice one. You can't go wrong, getting a very clean one in really good shape. If you want one anyway, don't miss this one.

Bump for a very nice revolver, and I also wanted to say I appreciated the very detailed description and explanation of the model number. Not all of us are S & W experts and I can't say how many ads I have seen on here where someone says "I have a Model 611 no dash in good shape " and we are all supposed to know exactly what that is and what caliber.... Rant over. still thinking on this one.

Not to nitpick, but the hammer and trigger do not appear to be color case hardened as mentioned in the description. Nice pistol.

That's what happens when you "borrow" somebody else's description and don't pay attention. I just checked the several other Model 66's I have, and none of them have color case hardened hammers and triggers. Don

I had an early M/66 like yours, it had stainless sights front & rear and no red insert in the front. It wasn't till much later that the rear sight was changed to blue.
