Handled a really nice Savage 24 today, but the action is very hard to open. What causes this and is it an easy fix?

Clean it well, never use WD40, and worry when it gets loose, not tight.
Mark Begich, Joaquin Jackson, and Heller resistance... Three huge reasons to worry about the NRA.
