Have you noticed that tool & die makers don't wear rings.
Those who make and handle fine work don't wear rings that might mar it!

Neither my late dad who owned a tool & die shop nor the men who worked in his shop wore rings.

Yet some who handle firearms do!

Don't tool and die makers work around machines that can snatch off a finger by a ring?

They don't wear neckties when using a lathe either.

Same thing in my business. No jewelry. Too dangerous
My wedding ring nearly tore my finger off as i stepped down off a truck. Got caught on a packing crate nail. Nearly had to cut it off, and the bone was visible. Lots of stiches.

the only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker, is observation. all the same data is present for both. The rest, is understanding what you're seeing.

They don't wear them so they don't lose their finger in rotating machinery.

I don't give 2 chits if someone wears it while handling a firearm because it's rather unlikely to rip your finger out at the knuckle.

I'd also say - highly unlikely to mar the finish on a rifle with one with normal handling. Steel of the rifle being rather harder than gold.

It has nothing to do with marring a finish, you dumbass; it has to do with not catching a ring or other jewelry in the machinery and losing a finger or more.

Just when we think DumbassDon can't possibly get any more stupid, he goes and proves us wrong; his stupidity truly is boundless.

Does this pertain to nipple rings?

Electricians are prone not to wear them either. The last thing you want is a conductor wrapped around your finger if your working live panels.

You sure it's so you won't mar the finish on those wires? wink

Had a party chief that had two nipple rings.

Kept telling him to not take his shirt off in hot weather. He wouldn't listen...

Snagged one on some brush while running GPS on an ATV... He only had one ring left after that... grin

Speaking of that - make sure you don't wear your ring when cleaning battery terminals or replacing the battery etc.. One guy around here happened to brush a terminal with his ring when holding a wrench and it melted around his finger.. eek

If I heard/ saw a ring hit my 100 % gun, and I've heard it before, I'd be pissed.

Treemen don't go much for rings. The real question is; Does the ring hold off or draw in women? Some, like most of men, are in the, "it's not the kill, it's the thrill of the chase." camp. There are a couple of thoughts in the narcisissts/hunters head.

Most farmers/ranchers ditch the rings too, at least while working.

I started my career as a rotating equipment engineer in a refinery. I wore nothing on my hands/arms/neck and Nomex took care of the rest.

My hunting partner has been a master electrician for over 50 years and has seen a number of fatalities and accidents from guys wearing wedding rings while working with electricity. The one that stands out is one of his former partners who's wife always berated him for taking off his wedding ring while working. A few weeks later he was handling some high voltage wires and received a massive jolt of electricity, killing him. Found out that the gloves he was wearing had a hole worn in the ring finger from the wedding ring, hot wire contacted ring and that was it...
