Yes I want a reduced load for the 260 Remington with 160 grain hornady going about 1600 fps .I want it to shoot stuff under my stand and not scare away the deer so bad .Armadillos and coyotes mostly .

Even at 1600 fps it will have a bark, better off getting a silencer, that's what I did, but even that will scare deer away. But if you need to do it anyways get some trailboss or blue dot. About 24 grs of Trail Boss will give you what your looking for.

Subsonic 22's is what I use for squirrels in that scenario.

Yotes - I've seen what they do - I just shoot them on site with the rifle.

I can't imagine that 'sploded or leaking critters lying about will enhance the deer attracting properties of a deer stand anyway.

H4895 is best for reduced loading. 60% of max load. Velocity will be close to 60% . Tried it in several rifles. It flat out works. If you are loading for youngster, increase powder as they get older. The 60% load in a 243 will punch right through a deer-pig at a hundred yards. Great for practice with hard kicking cannons. I use Sierra GameKing bullets for the reduced loads. I hunt in East Texas with a 60% load in a 375 H&H. I can't see but 75 yds. Kills deer-pigs, but not me.

I used a reduced load of H4895 for my daughter's 7-08 last year. 29 gr with a 120 NBT gave 1850 fps on my chrony. I would bet that something between 27-29 gr would give you the velocity you're looking for.
She's bigger this year so I'm upping the formula. 35gr with 139 BTSP gave 2250fps and 33 gr with 150 NBT gave 2375 this weekend.

Trail Boss is what you are looking for, more than likely it will hit lower than your full power load so you will need to figure out how much higher to hold your crosshairs.

When I tried 4895 for such work in a .30-06 I had vertical stinging due to huge velocity swings. Then I tried trailboss and never looked back. It's been great for reduced loads in a variety of chamberings. Another one that's worked well for me is 5744.

I'd admit to using Unique over Trail Boss....

think it gives better accuracy...

but then again, if faced with a choice between the two, under current market conditions and availability... I'd lean toward the one I can find on the shelves....

I have used H 4895 a bunch. I used the 60% rule of max loading. It gives you 60% of max velocity. Never had any vertical stringing. Loaded 243,270 and 30-06. I increased powder as they got older. They never noticed I was increasing powder charge.

Might think about casting your own bullets for light loads.

About $75 for a Lyman or RCBS 6.5mm 140 gr mold. Or get a Lee for about $25 w/handles. If you got a camp stove for melting lead and an old cast iron or steel pot to melt lead in, you're in business.

Load about 12gr of Unique to start.
