Just curious how many here are waiting on a tax stamp for their suppressor. Obviously trying to beat the 41F deadline last July. I've got one from April and another from June. How many you got and when did you send off the form?

SBR instead of a suppressor for me this time, but I'm waiting since June. (We had about a 2 week window between our SBR law going into effect and 41P.)

I originally assumed it would be about a year's wait, but now it looks hopeful for the end of this year.

Waiting on two from March 25, one from May 9 and a form 1 from June 20.

My June submission is for an element 2 rimfire suppressor. I was really looking forward to using it before the end of deer season (not on deer of course grin ) Oh well always next season.

After posting this, figured I'd check in with the ATF on mine first 2... My Silencerco Omega was approved on Oct 31, Sparrow still pending. Then, on the way home, FFL called and said he received my stamp today!

So that was 7 1/2 months!

One rimfire suppressor (Dead Air Mask) from March still floating in the breeze, but I believe that's mostly because of where I purchased.

3 others already at FFL, just waiting on stamps. (Another Dead Air Mask, Silencerco Omega, & Hybrid).

Update. Long lost Dead Air Mask now enroute as of today.

Are you saying you bought it in March and it is just now shipping to your dealer? What happened?

Yes. Exactly what I'm saying. The dealer has been jerking my chain (as well as many others). Finally got it shipped after threatening him with legal action.

In any case, it's on the way to my FFL.

Yeah, I'd finally had enough. Even with a duplicate coming, I don't like the feeling when somebody's blowing colored smoke at me and I know it. He was swapping around serial numbers and doing other dumb stuff.

When I get to that point, I'll spend a couple to several grand to make a point with a dumbass.

I have had two very BAD experiences with Class III dealers. Like...bad. Really bad.

I have one more can in the works and then I'm done. Centerfire pistol.

Whispers this may pass with Trump...

Hearing Protection Act of 2015

This bill amends the Internal Revenue Code to: (1) eliminate the $200 transfer tax on firearm silencers, and (2) treat any person who acquires or possesses a firearm silencer as meeting any registration or licensing requirements of the National Firearms Act with respect to such silencer. Any person who pays a tax on a silencer after October 22, 2015 may receive a refund of such tax.

The bill amends the federal criminal code to preempt state or local laws that tax or regulate firearm silencers.

I need a centerfire pistol can, too. One that'll handle 9mm (and .45 ACP maybe). I think I'm also done then.

It's just a muffler, we shouldn't even need a 4473. You don't have to do title paperwork on your car's muffler, why should you on a gun?

I think the only reason silencers are considered firearms by the ATF was just a work around so they could regulate and tax them; if that's eliminated, there's no reason for any of the paperwork. It should be just like buying a scope or any other accessory.

I am pretty sure in legal-eeze that means 4473.

I keep the .30 cal flat cap on my Omega, even with .223 it still sounds great. I'm afraid if I swapped end caps between rifles I would eventually have a brain fart and send a .308 round through that .223 cap.

Well, at least the good thing with AR's is SBR'ing one lower, and then ability to have multiple short bbl'ed uppers.

My FFL dealer's license number had changed since the Form 4 was submitted and they had to give the valid number.

Just got my stamp for my Silencerco Sparrow. Paperwork was submitted on March 25 along with the paperwork for my Omega, which came in a couple of weeks ago. Based on those two, 7.5-8 months now for approvals. Still have a Form 4 for an Osprey and a Form 1 for an SBR outstanding.

BATFE cashed my check on 4-15, approved on 11-27, and my FFL says he still hasn't received it from BATFE. I called them Friday asked nicely if it was mailed, and the jerk just kept harshly stating they have 30 days to mail it.

As I and at least one other fire member (Flave) have found out the hard way (and now you), there are some douchenozzles in the suppressor business.

Very true. Luckily here in the Liberal Capitol of Texas, we have 2 really good dealers--Silencer Shop and Capitol Armory. I've used Capitol Armory for my last 5 or 6 purchases, and will continue to do so.

My latest purchase was mailed May 10th and I'm still waiting.

I picked up my Sparrow SS last Wednesday. I mailed it on 7/23/16. It went pending on 8/1/16. The dealer got it the Thursday before Labor Day, but did not notify me until the day after Labor Day.

Called NFA today. My stamps are a long way out. Partly because of my trust and partly because of errors in the adminstration of such.

I will pass on a couple facts I learned during a long conversation with a very nice person at NFA.

1. August 2016 Form 4 approvals are nearing completion.
2. Single person Form 4's are processed faster than trusts.

Picked up Silencerco Omega and stamp today. Docs signed March.2017. Have been doing my cans in a trust. This one was no different.
17 months.

All background checks now being done by FBI.

Average times start to finish now running 4-7 months, possibly longer with trusts, according to my FFL/LGS owner.

Happy to finally get the Omega home. The Ruger Predator 6.5 Creed (among others) has been patiently waiting.

I bet you'll like that combo. Different suppressors but same rifle for me; I find it very pleasant to shoot suppressed, and noticeably quieter than the AR stuff.
