Looking to by myself a birthday present and was looking at this coat. Anyone use it for bird hunting? I have a vest for warmer weather.

I have an older barbour waxed jacket. I liked it when I hunt ruffed grouse, wood cock later in fall in the thick stuff. I picked it up years ago in a Chicago goodwill store

To be honest it was ok, but did not breath well compared to the newer stuff today when walking for miles. I like using a vest for hunting and dress in layers as it gives more options when weather changes

I still have it and it is very comfortable jacket to wear around town or for chores.

I've had one for about 25yrs....kind of stiff but indestructible and plenty warm with a wool shirt underneath on those cold days...
I prefer my Filson vest in the early season though....
