Hornady has the bullets, brass and now the ammo for the old quarter bore. How bout a new rifle !

Marlin 336 or Henry would be nice.

Outstanding. 2,425fps is fast enough. This is exactly what the cartridge has needed for quite some time. Sure hope it will be available as a component

This ammo is screaming for a new rifle! Maybe Hornady is in collaboration with Marlin on this!

By looking at there offerings you would think Henry would be more accepting of the idea of chambering some rifles in the 25-35.

They are also producing a new single shot for next year, heck I'd take one of them in the old Winchester round.

I fired my 25-35 1899 Savage saddle ring for the first time yesterday. Was a very pleasant experience. It fits me well as it is old, worn and has bruises and cracks like myself. Stock has been Bubbaed but still functions. Likely will replace the wood but then the metal won't look right. That gun has stories stamped all over it, would be great to know a few. GW

If they are going to do that, I would improve the case ackley style, and call it a 258 Marlin or Henry.

call me weird but i'd love to see a special run of 336's in the guide gun config with this cartridge. i think a 25-35 in a nice compact package would be sweet. very little recoil and enough ooompf for whitetail.

re-barreled M94 with a 20" barrel would be the ticket.

re-barrel might cost as much as a new rifle, but you'd have light, short and handy sewn up.

(preferably no safety and blued receiver)

Does anyone know when this ammunition will be on the shelves? I had stored away my 1940s Model 94 because ammunition and reloading components were so hard to find. This afternoon I dug it out and ready to give it new life! But, I can't find the ammunition on any shelves yet.

I can't find the ammo either, not a single box. I'm looking for the new 218 Bee ammo in every corner I can think off. I will try and call Hornady.

If they would make a .218 Bee FTX I would really be happy!

It's still 2016, these are 2017 introductions so I wouldn't expect to find any just yet.

E-mailed Hornady concerning the new 110 grain .25 cal FTX bullet.

They said 30-60 days before they ship.

My local sporting goods store called tonight when I was getting ready to take my wife out for our anniversary dinner. My 10 boxes of the .25-35 FTX were in.

Looks like an old 336 will be getting a new barrel.

I just order some from Grafs and Midway has it too......so its coming in Have a fair amount of the "old" stuff but REALLY nice to have some "modern" options.

I'm interested to try the 41 mag load as well - about time Hornady gave that cartridge some attention

I have a Ruger #3 that I got re-barreled in 25-35 and it will get some of the new ammo.

Dang I had 5 model 04s in 25-35 four new ones and one nice old one I bought for $125.Hope some new guns come out too !

I tried some FTX ammo in a .35 Remington yesterday, and it shot well.

I have .25-35s in a T/C G2 Carbine and a rebarreled BSA Martini SS. With a single shot you can use any style bullet you want to (and I do). Deer and pig killers when loaded and pointed right.

Well how about that. 20" and 24". The $1,200.00 and $1,400 price tages may slow us up a bit but its still interesting.

I'm guessing it will be a little over $900 for the carbine. I only wish they would sheit can the rebounding hammer.

I have 20" Angle Eject. You could have nice levergun built up for $1,400.00 if you have donor.

I would prefer a Marlin or maybe a Henry in the 25-35 Win. Especially in the $600.00 price range. Of course there is no such thing.

Although the Miroku Winchester's seem well made.

I recently bought a T/C Contender barrel in 25/35. I also bought a M8 scope and mounts for it. Since I reload I got some Hornady brass, IMR 3031 powder and some 60 grain bullets. As soon as I get around to it I'll have the scope mounted and load up some cartridges.

A bit easier to fit a Winchester barrel than a Marlin due to the hood on the Marlin. Probably not a serious consideration.

All this hoopla about Hornady .25-35 components has me excited too. At last, a fresh source for brass with which to make Savage .22 HiPowers.

I would give my left nut for an 1899H in .25-35. (If I'm dreaming, may as well go big. Who would want a Marlin or Winchester when they could wish for a Savage?! )

The rifle on the right is a rebarrel in .25-35.. Great shooter, haven't used it much lately..

Ranger Point Precision quoted me $600 to turn a Marlin 336 into a 25-35.

moose, that is about what I have in that one.. It was and expensive project, but I am glad I have it.

I do need to shoot it more.. It has been a good one, p.dogs, coyotes, antelope, mule deer, and wild turkey..

I'd like to do it but it's cost prohibitive right now. It's a $1,000 after buying the rifle. I'd rather put that money into a hunt.

Rifle belonged to a USDA "Tick Rider". He rode Rio Grande from when they were created in 1906 until just after WWII. Allegedly carried from Brownsville to El Paso at least twice and in at least one shoot out. I believe his main AO was from like Eagle Pass or Del Rio to Brownsville.

They still have tick riders out there. Part of the tick fever eradication program. Catch Mexican cattle coming over the river with infected ticks. Vet Tech daughter says there's real issues again here with the fever.

moose, I thought about what you said about a hunt.. I have thought of that over the years, but the price of a good hunt just keeps climbing.. Faster than I can catch up.. I would get the gun, you can enjoy it everyday..

I don't make the hunts I used to.. We have always had lots to hunt here, usually I have several deer and antelope tags, at least one elk tag, plus varmints, birds and small game.. For years I used to hunt 6-8 weeks in Pa. and W. Va. after I was done here.. Then we have hogs in Tex.. Lots to do and not much money spent.. Time is often more of a problem.. Now I usually spend much of my fall here and hunt birds, deer and antelope.. Have a safe full of guns and love each one.. Instead of selling, I plan to pass them on to folks I know will appreciate them.. Kind of a nice way to be remembered!!

You make a good point WCH! I don't even know what hunt I'd want to go on.

Over the past few years I've seen several rifles at the gun store. The'ye usually a Savage 99.

Well, out here to the ranch. Went down by old range and found this target. Set it up and backed off about 40-50 yds. Hunkered down on one knee as best as an old cripple gimp can do and made two quick shots with that old tick rider rifle. I think it's a keeper!

As a tribute to the original owner I've decided to do a little restoration. Nothing serious to detract from its appearance. But I felt the # 6 finishing nail holding the nosecap in place didn't look all that secure.

That little 1894 has to put some weight on so it feels like a 1895 to ya !

Boddington has an article on the .25-35 and the new Hornady load in the April Guns & Ammo.

The article is long on history and short on today. A well written and interesting article.
Perhaps someone else will write an article with more shooting.
Or, there may not be a lot more to say.
Ammunition is accurate, it is safe in a tube magazine and, it kills deer.
