Have an opportunity to grab the aforementioned truck at well below blue book. Mainly to use for hunting and light hauling.
Truck has the 3.4 liter V6. Any flies on that truck/engine combo?

2009 should be a 4.0L if it is a V6. I had an 06 that I put 135k trouble free miles on. Great little truck.

Good truck. Don't get the 6 speed manual....1st is too deep and 2nd is too tall for a normal take off IMO. They didn't make many thankfully. So get the auto trans.
Fuel mileage will not be that great...17-19

I have an 09 Tacoma quad cab 4 door whatever . Mine was bought a year old in 2010 with 11k on it . Great truck , mine is 4wheel drive 4.0 Automatic. Nearly 190k on it now , replaced the battery , 1 rear leaf spring , headlight bulbs and just recently rear U joints. No other problems . Averages 17-20 mpg and goes anywhere I need to go .Used to be a ford guy but it's gonna be Toyotas from now on.

I had a 2009 Double Cab TRD and sold it at 75K. TOo much maintenance very average gas mileage and cramped interiro . Constant wheel alignment issues , rear wheel bearing went at 40k. My Son has a 2006 access cab with 4.0 6 speed. it has 107K on it, he has replaced both front wheel bearings, clutch and had the entire driveshaft from the tranny back to the differential. Rust recall and leaf spring recall and replacement of both. It will be his last one.

I have an 07 4X4 DC with the 4.0 bought new. I've driven it 175,000 miles and expect another 100,000 before any major repairs. Normal parts that wear out for the most part. Tires, belt, plugs, battery, fluids, brakes etc. I did have to replace the HVAC motor at about 150,000, the shocks at 130,000, and one U-Joint at 170,000. I'm due to have the rear springs replaced under the recall, just haven't had it done yet.
It has been by far the best truck I've ever owned. It gets 20mpg hwy, 17ish for my everyday driving. The payload isn't much, but it is rated to pull 6500 lbs. A lot of 1/2 tons won't pull that much. I use a 10' utility trailer for carrying big or heavy stuff.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

I've got 750K worth of Tacoma miles on one truck or another with none of the issue you guys have had.

I've got an 07 quad cab with about 160k. I've replaced front wheel bearings, front shocks, and other than general maintenance stuff like brakes and tires it's been solid. My complaints are ...the mud flaps are a joke, no auxiliary stereo input or Bluetooth, and I hate,Hate,HATE the electronic 4WD shifting!!! I was much less than impressed with the towing capacity in the real world, too.

I've had three Tacomas, two 4-Runners, and two Highlanders made since 1998. Only real unexpected item I had to replace was a fuel pump on one of the Highlanders and it was under warranty. I love them.
Now with even more aplomb
