It went down instantly with a neck shot and the gun handled like it was an extension of my arm. Id post a pic of the gun but many would consider it an abomination with it's scout mounted scope.

Now I'm curious I've never seen a scout mount on a 71 and would love to hear and see more about it.

I had the mount custom made by a local gunsmith. It looks like u would expect really a forward mounted scope. Never got around to taking a picture but I'll try to pretty soon and I'll post it up. Some people don't care for them but I like how they work. Leap years ahead of a peep but I would never say it functions as well as a traditionally mounted scope. Here in Pa where we have to count points on bucks before we pull the trigger it comes in real handy to have some magnification.
