After reading so many posts where guys are trying to compare OEM contours to the various "after market" barrel makers, and being semi-retired with occasional time on my hands, I decided to compile a master reference chart of barrel makers' profiles. Right now it is in EXCEL which allows sorting, etc. This has been particularly difficult as some barrel makers have their own unique method for defining their contour profiles and so in some instances, the comparison might be "apples to oranges" so to speak. If there are any gunsmiths who specialize in barreling, are also interested in having something like this, and also have a few moments to discuss and answer a few questions, I would appreciate you PM'ing me with a time convenient for me to call you back. Once completed, I will make it available for all.

Rifle barrels though mass produced is still a relatively custom affair. Meaning there is no specific standards or specifications the manufacturers go by. Some barrel makers have well over 100 unique profiles. Remington as well as many rifle makers profile barrels specific to whatever they are building. They have few standard profiles but many are specific to the model and year it's being made and it is subject to change as they see fit. To try to compile a cross reference list by exact duplicates is going to be a challenging task. I would think that a generous + or - tolerance would make it a little easier but may defeat the purpose you are trying to achieve.
