Can not seem to be able to decide.

Which do you prefer for accuracy, reliability, and overall quality???

TIA

Ruger 22/45 heavy barrel would be my choice. YMMV smile

Fotis: Up until a month ago the answer to this question was - its a toss up - they are both great pistols - in my mind pretty much equal in all the categories you mention.
I have been shooting both for quite some time now.
And indeed I do like all of my Ruger MK pistols (14 of'em) and my Buckmarks (5 of'em - mostly heavy barrels).
But since the Ruger MK-IV's came out last month this contest is now over - go Ruger MK-IV - they are now close to perfection!
Best of luck to you with whichever you decide.

If you want a 22/45, better not leave it too long.

I see Ruger has pulled the 22/45 from it's website. Only semiauto pistols listed are SR22, MKIV, and Charger.

I've owned Ruger Mark I and Mark II pistols in the past. They are history. I now have a Browning Buckmark SS 4" Micro Bull and my new Buckmark should be here this week.

I got an old mk II, I did a trigger job on it. I have thousands of rounds through it and like it. However I think I would try a Browning now.

Ruger Mk II here...at least 50k through it. One of my favorite pistols ever.

Can't get 'em in Cali anymore either. Ruger's basically pulled their auto's from Cali. frown

(the grips are aftermarket, set up for LH shooting)

I've had it for a lot of years and it's never failed me. Very, very accurate and an excellent squirrel-getter.. laugh

Aside from the simplified take-down (which is no big deal to me), what do you see as improvements over the MKII and MKIII? Have they improved the trigger?

Trigger is very nice. Also the magazines actually eject from the gun without the need for the mag disconnect upgrade/install. Not a huge deal....But the fact that I can take her down in one move without following 45 steps and having an aneurysm every time I have to clean her is worth it.

My son just bought the Ruger MK IV Target Stainless and he loves it. The trigger is pretty good and he loves how easy the reassembly is. I have a blued MK II Government Target and I love it but it can be challenging to reassemble.

Maybe the new MK IV's are better. They're supposed to be.
