What bullet for reloading the Glock 20? Looking at the Hornady HAP 180 grain, thoughts... Trying to choose a good 150-180gr bullet for target shooting and will hold up to some velocity, suggestions wanted.

The 180 xtp is a good fit for an expanding bullet in the 10mm, because it has a broad velocity performance range, from standard speed loads up to the top speed loads. HPR as example, matches the fmj to the 180 xtp load, to use for practicing for the hunting load. But, if the end goal were grouping on target for target shooting, likely a lower speed loading, with lower recoil for tracking sights, with premium on accuracy, would trump a hunting load.

The HAP bullet costs more than the XTP, so I'd only go that route with a competition load. Would not think their FMJ version is as accurate, but it does feed well and shoots good groups to match the XTP, and in reality, the HAP is nothing more than a tweaked XTP designed for competition, goal on accuracy, not expansion.

I shoot a lot of Gold Dot's, 155, 165 and 180's. Also some 200 hardcast.

It's good to have an aftermarket barrel when shooting handloads. It supports the case better and lacks the polygonal rifling that can be a problem with cast bullets.

I use nothing but the Hornady 200 gr XTP in my Glock 20.

I use the Hornady 180 grain XTP in my Glock 20. It's a great bullet.

For a target load I would think the HAP's would be nearly ideal. Hornady just plain makes great bullets.

I mostly use the 200g xtp in my glock 20 but I've also had good luck with the nosler 200 jhp and their 180 jhp. The noslers can occasionally be caught on clearance at SPS. I just missed some factory first 200's for $30/250.

I'll second that; either the HAP, or the XTP if you want to pay a little more.

Really, the question should be about what bullets won't work, since just about any good jacketed bullet works well for what you're asking. I would suggest avoiding plated bullets if you're going to run actual 10mm loads, not just 40 S&W level plinkers.

Some of the newer coated cast bullets are a good option here too, if you want to save some cost.

For target work why waste all the money on jacketed... Have been using the Berry's plated bullets and even when run at full speed run just fine...

I like the 155 and 165 Flat Point Hollow Base designs...very accurate and feed great....

For HPs have been running the 165 Speer Gold Dot HPs....

I had good luck with Nosler's 200gr sporting bullet out of my Kimber 10mm over AA7 powder.

180 XTP...

Zero brand FMJ are just as cheap as cast or plated bullets and are good, real FMJ bullets Yo have to order them online though by the 500+. For expanding bullets, the Hornady XTP is about the cheapest and capable of self defense or hunting.

All the bullets mentioned will work well.

Among match shooters these are high-quality and are very popular.

As clean as jacketed for about 10 cents/ea delivered.
