No really good place for this, so I put it here. Long story short, as a younger man I was often excited about the new calibers and big dollar rifle, but never had the big dollars to spend. Although you can't see it in the pic, two weeks ago I shot this WY pronghorn at a lazered 309 yards with a sub $250 rifle/scope combo. I bought the combo, a used H&R Ultra Rifle in 25-06 with a separate used Simmons scope 20 years ago. On top of that I used inexpensive, $19 a box, Hornady American White-tail 117 grn spbt interlock bullets. One shot, quartered slightly to me, through the shoulder, broke 3 ribs, obliterated one lung, split the liver and exited off side. One shot and DRT. So I wanted to share this to encourage those guys/gals out there who don't have all the $$$ to buy the latest and greatest, its okay just get out there.

H&R rifles can surprise people with their performance. I've used them from rimfires to slug guns and have been satisfied. The 25-06 has been one of my favorites and my friends that I got good deals for love their 25-06s as well.

I have several of these in calibers from 22 hornet of 44 mag. Have had probably a dozen over the years, with the exception of maybe 2 all have been good shooters . Picked up one in 44 mag earlier this year, planning on giving it some time in the woods this year . One thing for sure all the ones I've seen have been more than accurate enough for the intended purpose.

I have 2 H&R rifles and they shoot as good as the more expensive ones. My 45-70 has out shot Ruger and TC. I love them.

If anyone is interested, I have a really nice H&R Handi-Rifle in 280 that I'd love to sell for around $225, plus whatever the actual shipping costs are.

I had a bull barrel Handi in .223 Rem. Great truck gun for coyotes when we were checking fence or looking at cows and calves.

I've been using a 16" camo stocked 44mag for deer hunting off and on for a few years now. It really is "Handi" still hunting or in a climbing stand.
