A while back I did a thread on a Howa mini that was modified a lot and turned into a single shot.

Since then I see some interest in the mini's but folks don't like the tactical magazine box, so here's a plan.



I would shorten the box like this

Cut box



I removed the middle piece and super glued it back together , then I welded the joint with a hot iron, clipped a coil off the spring and reassembled it.



Not as smooth as the single shot but some better than stock.

What kind of stock is on that single shot?

Definitely less dangly.

How many does it hold in stumpy form?

The stock on the SS is the original one that Mtnboomer worked his magic on and then had a carbon fiber wrap. The mag. Will hold five but there seems to be some coil bind, works good with four.

You did some cool mods on those magazines!

Ive got both the 223 HB n the 6.5 Grendel in Mini's and love em, I just trimmed the mag release with the dremel as I find it a little too long and easily bumped.

definetly keen for stock upgrade too

RG how does the Grendel shoot? I damn near bought one, but by the time they were released my wants and funds had strayed.

Check with Mtnboomer on that stock work, I heard that he may have a Christmas special going on.


The short mag is an easy fix, the single shot conversion takes a little longer but makes a sleek rifle.
