Spruced up my #1 coyote smacker yesterday. Took it apart, cleaned it up, hosed out the Jewell, and gave it a little fresh paint, then topped it off with a different 2.5-10x32 Nightforce.

Took it out today to get it sighted in, and confirm drops to 400, as far as I could go with the recent rain w/o a mud bogger.

400 yard view:

You prefer the 6 over the 6.5?

Any significant advantage for one over the other in regards to wind drift? What velocity you get with the 105s?

This gun runs 105 VLD's at 3030, my 6.5 runs 130 VLD's at 2820 or 123 Amax at 2850. Only half a minute difference in wind at 600, but a full MOA at 1K....advantage 6mm.

I have a 26" Kreiger in 6x47 that runs 105 pointed Hybrids at 3125 that betters the little one by full MOA at any yardage.

You running H4350 under that 105? Ever tried the 115s?

Yes, H-4350, and surprisingly the same load is the best in multiple barrels.

The 115's can be problematic to get to shoot, and the 105's give up little to them with the higher velocity. You never see anyone shooting 115's in 600/1K BR matches for a reason.

I may have to give the 6 a try. I sure do like the 6.5. Is one any easier to find a load for than the other?

In my experience, I'd say no, of course nothing is an absolute.

Thanks Steve....you can lead a horse to water, but.....

The 400 yard group was far from a fluke.

100 yard was a .430"
200 yard was a .950" (shanked the 3rd shot low, dammit)
300 yard was a .885"

Aalf how do you compare the 6x47 to the 6dasher?
