Nope, not when its used as a poor attempt at sarcasm.

There was no sarcasm intended... like I said, totally lost on a humorless person.

I'm sure there's got to be a thread about Clinton Satanism or Michelle Obama's butt that needs your input up at the Campfire forum.

I know that all of your hearts are in the right place rescuing old, neglected 98's of all persuasions. So, in order to reduce your pain and suffering, any commercial FN Mausers that happen to get in your way as you dig through the pile of military mausers can be sent my way just to get them the home they deserve and out of the piles of neglected mauser children that need your attention.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter,
Bob

Gee Ken....

if you're going to have such a cool rifle...

ever considering an upgrade on those scope rings...

Those old Weavers look better with a Simmons 22 Mag scope on them, than wasting a good Leupold...

and to stop getting those scope mounting scratches on a good Leupold scope ( or any other)... even tried wrapping a piece of black electrical tape around the scope to protect its finish in the mounting area?

Since you use 416s for jackrabbits, what do you use the 375 for? Bugs? grin

( Merry Christmas to you and Judy my friend! Hope to see ya at Roosevelt Lake in Feb)...

Why thank you for your generous offer. We at the Mauser Rescue Society realize that all Mauser 98s, regardless of their origin deserve a good home and a good productive existence. We do have an opening for an executive vice president in our commercial division. Responsibilities would include locating and preserving civilian actions that suffer from mistreatment and neglect. Just let us know if this would be a position of interest to you.

Thank you,

CowboyTim

Back when I Was still working at the shop, Old man came in one day with this rifle. Had a Bell&Carlson black comp stock and an old Redfield 3x9 Tracker scope. Wanted to have
It cleaned. Then he got on conversation of selling it.

He said his dad brought it home after war. That it was some 6.5 ctg they couldn't get ammo for. So he "sent" it to Winchester and had a 30/06 bbl installed. I explained that Winchester probably didn't do the work, but whoever did, did it right. And I went on to say "too bad you don't have original Stock and other stuff". He answered he did! And wondered if he sold rifle he should bring everything in. I stated why not!

So he sold shop rifle. And brought all the extra stuff up to us in smithing. Old stock had a rifinish on it and a thin pachmayer pad. But he had all the old Stuff ! Stock buttplate clawmounts etc. So I ended up buying the whole thing. Barrel dated 1957. I stuck it back to original as best I could. And one slow day I stuck that Lyman 48 on it. Best I can tell
It some Variant of Oberndorf "B".

Another rescue! Husqvarna model 146 mfg in 1938. Overall great rifle
Had of all things a sporting Clays recoil pad that made OAL LOP over 15"! So I stuck thinnest decellerator pad I could find on it. And another slow day at the shop, coworker and I made it a 9.3x62!

For only $15.21 per month, barely .50 cents per day, you too can help take care of a mauser before it's too late. Won't you give generously? PM me for address to send your checks to (and I do take paypal) wink

Interarms Mark X. Started out as a 30-06. Sent it to Pac-Nor and got it cerakoted and re-barreled.

Now it's a .358 Win with an 'old school' Leica on it (circa last century)

[Linked Image]

As a 30-06, it wasn't too accurate. As a .358 Win, it works just fine!

So far, this rescue has dropped every living thing I've shot with it with one shot per critter. Nice
