I bought my daughter this shotgun a few years ago. It is very accurate but has gotten progressively less reliable. It fires about every other hammer fall. The manufacturer has washed their hands of any product produced before last week. If I can get the parts cheap I will repair it otherwise I will find another constructive usage, such as boat anchor. Has anyone else dealt with this? Thanks. I am not mailing it to anyone as shipping fees alone are more than I want to spend on this turd.

Sounds like the hammer spring needs replaced.
My first suggestion would be for you to track down David White in Oklahoma. His business is called D & T gunsmithing, or something like that. He is very good at working on H&R's and does great trigger jobs.
But you mentioned you don't want to ship anything or spend much.
The innards of these are not particularly easy to work on. My suggestion would be to do a youtube google for how-to videos and study up. Replace the hammer spring and see if that solves the problem.
If the gun produces good accuracy then it's worth saving.

I only have about $200 into this gun. I bought it for my daughter but I ended up using it more than she did. I am unwilling to sink more into it as it is not what i want to use anyway. Thank you for your response.

Where are you in NW IA? If you're interested, we may be able to come up with a selling solution that doesn't involve shipping or FFL. I'm in-state.

This is either a weak hammer spring or (just as likely) a damaged (ie chipped, mushroomed, or broken) firing pin.
