Ed, You're always good for some fine gun photos... Too bad we aren't next door neighbors. It was be time well spent, looking at your stable of quality, classic rifles. Good job. DF

My enjoyment of quality wood comes to me naturally. My Grandfather got this piece of wood for a whopping $12.50 back in the 19-teens. My 'first' one was a blond fajen stock. That 25-06 has over 3000 rounds down the pipe and still shoots sub-moa. This rifle took my first two elk as well. I gave it to my Dad when his rifle crapped out on him. I 'replaced' it with this one. Another Fajen stock. This rifle has just over 2000 rounds through it. It's also the rifle I've taken my longest measured shot on game with - 674 yards.

Yugo 24/47 converted to a 240 Weatherby. A Richards Microfit blank that I fit and finished myself. I just can't do plastic and paint.

Half rifle, half shotgun. Savage 24 .223 over 20 gauge. Stock from fleabay, I think it was for a Savage 94 10 gauge as I had to remove a lot of wood fitting it to the receiver, and forend was from Numrich. Both pieces of wood stripped and refinished by me. Remington 760 Pump Carbine in 30-06, just as it came from the factory in 1979.

My wood looks like it came off Ruger's woodpile, all nice and straight-grained, but nothing fancy at all. I DID have one 77R with some nice figure, but it's long gone now.
I've got six CZs, and none of them won the wood lottery.
I've had a couple 870 Remingtons that looked awfully nice, though.

No, much lighter they. Most were Filipinos, Indians and Koreans that would weld circles around anything I saw in North America. Squat near azz to the ground for hours. You?

Remington 760 Pump Carbine in 30-06, just as it came from the factory in 1979. WELL now that you brought a Deer Hunter's rifle into this: I have a few. The Six with 'see thrus' is the FIRST one I bought 270. It's nickname is "Meat in the Pot"- for real. My Son has inherited it and guess what?? The first day he hunted it THIS year==he killed a deer w/it. The Six at the top is in 6mm REM. It is the 2nd one I got. The WOOD looks even better in person. We're cloudy today or I'd take a pic of it by itself. The second Six is in 06. I've had it since 2012 and hunted it this year for my first time. Guess what? Killed an 8 pt the FIRST day out. 3 of those have nice wood for factory pump. However the BEST LOOKING rifles are these: continued Jerry
