It's been 5+ years that I've visited here. Heard that Dr. Howell has passed. Never got to send him more praleans. See that the fire is still bright and crowded, hope I can still offer something to the conversation. By way of introducing myself to the new members, I like unusual calibers to hunt with. It used to be handguns mostly (.41RemMag and a couple of Gary Reeder .41s). Now because of old eyes it's long guns in .257Roberts. Still live in Grays Creek, NC. Two of my granddaughters still hunt, other five have moved on to other things. Have a great granddaughter that likes to fish in my ponds and likes to sit in my hunt stands when I'm taking pictures. She likes venison jerky and squirrel gumbo. Might be a hunter.
Handgun Hunter no more. STILL LOVE THOSE .41's

Welcome back, .257 Roberts and .35 Whelen both in pre'64 M/70 Winchesters are favorites of mine. Here in Indiana it used to be shotgun slugs only for deer, several years ago they passed legislation allowing pistol caliber rifles. I have been hunting with a Ruger 77/44 .44 Magnum. Last year they allowed centerfire rifles in certain calibers, the Roberts and the Whelen were not amoung those allowed. I have done a little handgun hunting with my Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum.

Welcome back Sir. I have been itchin' to get something with my Marlin in 45-70. I like the efforts you do to take family out in the woods. And you have excellent taste in handguns.

Some military injuries from the '60s decided to let me know I was getting old. Got cut a few times. Became very friendly with morphine. When the visual and aural things that weren't there got to be most of my waking time I decided a very big, gagging, not fun dose of cold turkey was called for. Ended up in the hospital with some nasty stuff going on in my belly. Free of morphine since Sept.18th, 2014. Still take photographs, still have one Reeder handgun. It's a TC Contender in .41GNR#2. Don't hunt it anymore but I do raise hell on my berm and paper. Hunting long gun is a Ruger 77 from 1967 in 257Roberts. Some sob stole my #1 so I searched the net and found the 77 in WA. It was cherry. Truthfully most of my hunting now days is rabbits and squirrels. Have a ticked out 10/22 that I did myself and a 77/22 that I sent to Clark Custom Guns in Louisiana. Stay mostly on my own property let my youngest son and his two girls hunt the deer and turkey. Have to go start a batch venison jerky.
