I own the APO 62mm spotter and think its a great value for the money. I see lots of 77mm for sale but never hear any Love for them.... Whats the scoop???

Great glass, especially in APO form, but it's large and heavy.
Two biggest factors.

I never liked the 77... mediocre glass and build compared to the newer Leica spotters IMO.

The one I tried, a demo, did not have a locking eyepiece mechanism. Every time you zoomed in or out the entire eyepiece would twist. Promptly returned it to CL.

Optically obsolete.

The 77mm particularly in APO configuration is still stunning glass.
It's big and it's heavy, and it lacks a wide angle eyepiece offering...the only drawbacks other than opinions with Leica's service.
Few scopes still compare especially at it's price point.
Head to head, the 77mm still holds its own with the big Kowa 88, the newer Leica 82, and Swaro's big objective offerings.

The 77's are a bargain these days.
