I just picked up an old 1895 in 30-06. What a cool gun, can't wait to hunt with it. Any one else have one?

Mine says .30 U.S. Mod. 1903 The guy I got it from said it was a 30-40 Krag but tuned out it was a 30-06 which was fine with me. I've got some Rem 220 gr. that I'm going to use in it.

Yeah, 30US is what I have, which of course is 30/40 Krag.

Yours should actually be the 30-03, a 30/06 with a longer neck.

I am lucky to have a 30 03, a 30 government and a 30 Army. Perhaps my 30 03 is a 30 us. I will check it out.

Own a take down 195 model in .405 Winchester. Used it to shoot a bison about 2 years ago. Mounted receiver sights on it, very accurate. Even with my old eyes it is capable of 1.5 inches at 100 yards with Barnes 300 grain TSX's.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

I have a TD 30 Govt 1906 with a Lyman 21 that loves IMR 4350 and the Hornady 190g BTSP. I have carried it a few times hunting but have yet to pull the trigger.

Enjoy!

Mine has a 5 number serial number and was manufactured in 1912. It has a Lyman 21 sight and it seems to like Rem 220gr
