I just purchased a T3 compact in .308. I am thinking about upgrading the recoil lug, bolt shroud, trigger guard/magazine well, and stock screws with the aftermarket stuff from Mountain Tactical Company. Is their stuff quality? Is there better? Also, what else should I change? Thanks

Love Mountain Tactical stuff. Lumley also does some nice stuff for Tikkas.

My advice would also be to shoot it and make sure it meets your standards before you drop too much into it.

I have their bolt shrouds, bottom metal, black stock screws, and pineapple bolt handles on my 2 T3's. All are excellent upgrades.

Only other thing you could eventually do is get a McMillan stock for it. But that is the most pricey upgrade, though a worthwhile investment.

If you do it, do it because you want to, not because you think you need to.

Because you don't.

I understand that. I just can't stomach plastic parts on a gun.

Factory T3X shrouds and recoil lugs are now also options. I have Atlasworx bottom metal. It works nicely.

I am not hard on a rifle, My rifles never see a horse scabbard, they may have to endure the occasional 3 or 4 mile hike into some rugged country but as i am aging those hikes are getting more infrequant but I've never had any problems with factory "tupperwear stocks" ( 'on any brand of rifle) mine have all shot outstanding and i also like the light weight, the new T3x factory stock is even better, it has more defined checkering and give's you a better grip ........Hb
