From the doctor. Took a little road trip on NYE, and picked up my Iver Johnson Hercules, 12 gauge, from the smith. My co-pay was a 100 bucks and a box of shells.

It would shoot 6-8 rounds for either side then just stop. These were warm summer days, so I figured something was gummed up. The smith couldn't find anything wrong, but did solder a part on the lever that was broken. He ran a box of shells through it with no failure, so I hope whatever he did does the trick.

It is an early model, with the barrel marked "SMOKELESS". The serial #'s don't match, but I don't care. Gonna have the stock re-finished, since it has a nice star burst grain pattern. Maybe a re-blue, also.

Yeah, that's why I got it. It will look good with a refinish. The checkering is pretty much worn down, may stay that way, depending on what the refinish guy says.

The guy I plan to use is highly regarded. I'll ask him what kind look would result, may come to the same conclusion.
