I ran across a interesting model 54 today. It was 30-06 but the serial number was above the stated end of the model 54 run. I asked the owner and he said that the research he did was that your could still special order a model 54 after 1936. I haven't pulled out my Rule book yet to confirm this, but would it be worth it to own the gun? It was in ok condition, it had some small surface rust spots, and may have been reblued, he wanted 700. Opinions?

2. The runway behind you
3. The fuel on the ground

Seems like a stretch to me. If your looking for a M54 I know where there is a pristine one in 30-06 second year production for $895.

Reblued + rust spots = little to no appeal despite late production. Pass for something else.

I would not buy that one for $700.

Would consider #50492 to be a late production rifle as approximately 51,000 (some estimate the number to be closer to 52,000) M54's were produced....
