Yes, if it sported a 3.5-10 I may jump at 1850, the 2-7 would have to be replaced anyway.

Agreed, I put a 4X12 on the SG 300 H&H and I love it. The std wears an old Redfield 3X9. Old eyes and failing light that larger scope reveled a small spike that I initially thought was a doe during our late season antlerless season. It gets dark by 5:30pm just when the deer start to come out.

Actual value what I see in the picture is $1375. You can do better if you find .30-06 in same shape. I say this because you gain nothing from .300H&H except higher price of brass and loaded ammunition.

The old pre-64 300's just look right with a gloss 3.5-10 or 4-12 Leupolds.

That being said, i really should replace the steel tubed Weaver 4-12x40 AO on my pre-64 super grade in 300 H&H, iirc, I have read here that those old scopes can fog on the inside.
