I went with a 1/10 twist it is a 6X6.8 it is very accurate so I am very happy with it.

What barrel length do the 3 gun guys use? Can you guys with completed 16 to 18 inch guns tell me how much they weigh. Just a gun and sites. I think I want to stay in the 6.5 to 7 pound range.

black hole weaponry thinks that they can make me a slim profile 18 inch barrel that will weigh two pounds. Does this sound about right? I would think so I have a Black Hole Weaponry barrel that is honeycomb fluted and weights 2lb or just a little under. I would give Ritch at Rich's Precision Gun's a call on the barrel he can save you some money he is one of their dealers. Damn thats some weird fluting, looks like its time intensive.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

I looked up a vx2 leupold and it was 14 ounces. So i'm guessing about a pound for the scope and rings.

You be surprised how much these one piece mounts can weight. You can cut that way down with either individual rings or an aero lightweight mount. The mounting alone, can be a 1/2 pound vs 3 ounces.
You are right, Leopold's claim to fame is performance for weight. That is a point often lost on many of these crazy AR scopes. many top out over 1 1/2 to 2 pounds for marginal optics. Those big big fat knobs and ocular, extra fake rubber coatings- maybe cool,IMHO light is better.

The scope is a Leupold Mark AR 6X18 and I think it weighs 15.3oz and the mount is an Aero Precision ultra light and weights 3oz .

Wilson Barrels from JSE Surplus I bought one of JSE's complete uppers last year. I have an 18" stainless, mid length gas, bull barrel in 223 Wylde. They use these Wilson Barrels in all of their uppers. It's my most accurate rifle with select ammo. Federal 69 gr Match I can get 9 out of 10 shots in a 1" square at 100 yds. 55 gr Blitzkings almost as good. Dan
