My dad left me his deer rifle, Savage Model 99C with a gold trigger. He was a short, stocky, ex Marine who believe in keep his firearms close and serviceable. In an effort to make shooting easier he cut off about 3 inches of the original stock. I have looked extensively but cannot find a replacement stock with the checkering.

If anyone has a lead on an original butt stock for my Dad 99C I would appreciate any information.

Thanks ya'll.

Oh, and I sent his Bushnell 4-12x40 scope (approximately 45 years old) to Bushnell for repair. They replaced it at no charge. I'm a Bushnell fan!

I have most of the different C stocks. Can you get a photo up?

Easiest way is to open up a photobucket account and load them up there (either via computer or via a smartphone app). Then you can copy the links to the pictures and post them here.

I have two sets that may work for you. Please note one has some damage to the toe, the darker one w/o buttplate.

The other is sweet all the way around but does have the annoying little splinters around the top of the buttplate. PM (private message) if you want to.

In addition to those two sets, I have some newer wood sets that do not have a relief for the rear sight boss on the forearm, but would otherwise work. They look like this. You'd need to relieve wood for the rear sight boss, and I suspect you may have small gap along the barrel channel due to the lightweight barrel on your 99C. Not sure on that though.
