I posted handloading questions in the Lever Guns forum, but thought folks here might find it interesting.

This one is a parts gun. Dad bought it new as a .30-30 around 1980 or so, then learned parts were available to convert to .44-40, which he did himself. He told me the guns were sold in Canada, though recently I've learned they may have been sold in Australia.

I'm planning to hunt hogs & deer with it at modest ranges. It shoots passably well with factory cowboy .44-40 loads, but has a .4295 groove dia, so I'm planning to work up some jacketed loads for it.
