I have a custom 284 rifle. Bolt action, single shot, 28" Douglas heavy barrel.

Normally I shoot the 168 gr. HPBT MatchKing with H4831sc. The chamber is tight and my max is 2 grains below listed. Max is 58 grains and I'm topping out at 56.2. As a 1000 yard rifle it did well.

I have a bunch of Speer 145 grain match. Using the typical powders like 4831, 4350 and such the results are far less than stellar.

I have 12 pounds of IMR 4064. Granted I know my velocity will be down but that really doesn't matter. Accuracy matters.

Does anyone have experience with this combo?

Also, I am considering a 120 grain V-Max same powder. By the books it looks near optimum.
