i came across a sako A III varmint in very good shape. out of interest, i mounted a nightforce 5.5-22 x56 scope on it using the lowest sako rings that would allow clearance. problem is that the scope still sits so high that it is difficult to get a good consistent cheek position on the comb.
any suggestions members have to augment comb height would be most welcome.
thanks in advance

Triple K link here at Cabelas.
Reviews are mixed but it may be what you're looking for.

Glue a piece of wood on stock, they make strap on cheek pads.

I often use two products for "adjusting" comb height:

The Rat Pad from www.ratpad.com is a heat-moldable pad that can be molded to a perfect height, and also removed afterward without harming the wood, plastic, rubber, etc. its attached to.

A Tac-Ops strap-on pad from www.tacticalworks.com. Some shooting companies offer these with their logos as well. I have a couple of Ruger pads but believe Hornady offers them as well. They can be adjusted for height with internal foam-rubber spacers.

Sounded interesting so I clicked the link. Guess you meant here?

Hate it when they change site names like that.

nighthawk,

Thanks! Yeah, they did change the name--and before that changed it another time. No wonder the word didn't get out more. It's an excellent product but....

Simple and cheap plan for this is to shave a short piece of water pipe insulation, put it on the top of stock and cover with ammo carrier. Works, but not elegant

Lace on or strap on stock pack

It holds ammo and gets your head up about 1"
