Remington website claims 1:8 for the 260... I thought their Model Seven 260s were 1:9

Remington website claims 1:8 for the 260... I thought their Model Seven 260s were 1:9 The original 260 released in 1997 were 9 twist. They then discontinued the Seven a few years back. When they brought the Seven back a couple of years ago, the 260 now has an 8 twist. I like my Sevens, but the CDL stock has too low of a comb for me to be very useful.

My daughter had a model 7 .260 and it had the 1-9 twist and shot lights out with a 120gr bullet. She now has the SPS in a CDL stock with the 1-8 twist. The model 7 CDL is a nice rifle.

Dogger, reread your original post. Are you contemplating all three, or trying to choose between them?

There is one at my LGS I've had my eye on for a while, after handling a friend's that had been put in an edge I'm pretty sure I'll pick one up sooner or later.

This was my dads last gun purchase before he passed . He never even sighted it in . I've left it just like he left it , dialed it in with his preferred projectile , and gone and whacked stuff with it in his honor . . Super handy little rifle (though the exact opposite of my normal sticks )

I cut my hunting teeth in the wooded hills of PA, where most shots are inside 100 yards. The Seven in .308 with a 2-7x compact has been my go-to hunting rifle for years. My kids learned with the .243, and the .223 is just a great walkabout gun. I have more accurate rifles suitable for shots "way out there," but a Seven will probably be the last one I'll give up.

Interested in Model Seven... can't decide on caliber... I figure the 7mm08 is likely the way to go for an all-arounder, but have always been interested in the 260

I've bracketed the .260 with the .243 and the .308. While the .308 is hard to beat, I think that if I were going to have just one, I might opt for the .260. It does most of what the .308 can do more efficiently and with lower recoil. Given the number of deer we've taken with 100 grain .243s, a 120 or 140 .264 is certainly going to do the job on medium game.
.243 and .308 ammo is going to be easier to find than either .260 or 7mm08. But if you reload, that's less of an issue.

My 7 in 308 is my go too and sits in the front of the safe. Just picked up a 7 in 6mm Rem that needs some tlc. Granted the are not the best set up for long range but they are handy and my favorite rifle to hunt.

My 7 in 308 is my go too and sits in the front of the safe. I concur. Easily my favorite rifle. Grab and go every time without fail.
