I need new boots. Tried some stuff on at REI today and the Quest felt really good on my feet. These were the 4D II's I believe.

Anybody got any experience with them, good or bad?

I've had 2 pairs of the Quest 4d. They are light and have held up fairly well. I wish they had a bit more aggressive tread. I wear them all year long.

Feel great, fit great, and they leak, which is a Gore-Tex issue.

I have many miles on mine elk hunting and love them. No problems with mine leaking.

Edit: one pair ha five elk seasons on them. Lots of miles. I do worry if the lining has developed leaks. On local hikes into Shenendoah I'll stand in creeks to check for leaks. So far so good.

Jeff, when I wear boots, those are the ones I use. My wife has two pairs. Great boots.

Excellent info guys, much appreciated.

I live in a wet place and am intimately acquainted with GoreTex.... a love/hate thing.... I have no illusions there. As long as they are water resistant that's all I expect. Especially after a year or two.

They really felt right on my feet. My Asolo's have a defect that is hurting my foot, so I'm going to look elsewhere this time... also tried on Lowa Renegade's and a Keen boot and a wacky shiny Sportive but the Salomon's felt like the last was made from my own foot... sounds like they are a good serviceable bolt... easy call! Thanks again.

Wish I could buy a 12 Left and 11-1/2 Right.... as always...

Jeff my favorite boot is Lowa Renegade. Perfect weight good traction I have worn a pair for years with no leaks. They are more water proof then my kenetreck hard scrabble.

Same boots as I have, they are light weight and comfortable. Just wore them this weekend as a matter of fact. Money well spent in my opinion.

Wore them on a 60 mile week long trip this past summer and they performed flawlessly.

i have owned many of the major brands and style of boots, the quest have fit better than any other boot i have bought,

very little break in first pair leaked water after 2 months of continuous use, salomon sent me another pair under warranty, not wading thru stream water, just hiking in wet brass,,

i wear them everyday, have almost 2 years on the first pair, not one blister on my heals,

i will continue to buy them,,,,,
