Offered in 84M, 84L, and 8400. The published 84M weight For the 308 is 4lbs. 13oz. The same as the 84M Mountain Ascent 308. Barrel twist is listed at 1:10 on the Subalpine vs. 1:12 on the MA, both finished at 22" and threaded 7/16-28. Other obvious differences are the lack of a fluted bolt knob, different camo pattern, and a $300 lower MSRP. Oddly, the 84L Subalpine in 280AI is listed as 5lbs. 5oz. compared to the Mountain Ascent at 5lbs. 10oz. They are also offering the Mountain Ascent in solid green finish. I'm not sure if it's painted or dipped, but given the option, I'd not have chosen a hydrodipped camo stock for my MA. http://www.kimberamerica.com/subalpine

A 26" threaded (which is useless) barrel on the .300 Win is a dealbreaker for Me, too long for My taste, plus Im just not ready for another round of roulette.....I do like the detachable box mag though (if I read it right) ....that is a feature long overdue.........Good luck .........Hb

Think the new green MA's and montanas are going to ahve the same coating as the old gray guns, just in green.
Plain bolt knob adds the weight that you lose from removing the muzzle break.

That makes sense. I still don't see where the $300 price differential is.

I selected .300 Win to see the barrel length and at the bottom of the page was a list of related products and one if these was a detatchable box magazine.........but it might just be a screw-up by Kimber cause I didnt see a detachable box magazine listed in the description.......Hb

That makes sense. I still don't see where the $300 price differential is. Less machining on the bolt/ knob is some $$$ savings, and no muzzle break that kimber retails for $89. I keep calling them and telling them to thread the "open country" an add another sling swivel up front.

Are the new Hunter stocks made in Costa Rica? It would seem that they could do those stateside easily enough.
