I'm working on getting parts together for a build and I'm considering a fluted bartlein #3 barrel. Does anyone have a picture of one that was fluted by Bartlein?

Not the entire rifle, but what I have. Most accurate rifle in the house.

Winchester 70 Classic action. .308W with 1:10. Set up for 165NBT's, but it is more than a little fond of 130TTSX.

Started out at 22in, but it was too front heavy for my liking, so cut back to 20in.

McMillan Edge.

I've got one on a 260 Rem custom, but it was fluted by Longrifles, Inc.

Doesn't look as heavy as I would expect a #3 to look. I've been considering a 2b but after seeing that picture it makes me feel better about the decision to go with a #3.

Yeah. I am happy with it after seeing it in person. I was worried about going to light. I'm going with the #3 with a 1" cylinder and finishing at 23" which puts the threads starting 1" past the end of the fluting.

I've got a Bart fluted #3 sitting on my bench; I'll take some closeups of the fluting for you when I go out there later. Want to see it next to say a Sendero profile tube... or a Rem magnum profile?

Go carefully....

It will be nose heavy. Unless you want heavy and are not carrying it around all that much.

Battue that's what I don't want. Do you think it will be nose heavy at 22"?

I hunted with a Remington ltr for a while. It was a little nose heavy but not bad. It also had a 40oz stock but the Barrel was over .800" at the muzzle.

Agree 22 will be fine for most. If I had it to do over it would be 21. But obviously you could go with 23 and cut it back if you are not happy. Did so with mine and accuracy stayed excellent.

That's my thoughts. I can always cut more off. I have a light weight rifle I had cut down to 20". Really wish I'd went 21"

For reference: Rifle now wears a 1.75x6. Still tips to the nose a little from the middle screw. I wouldn't consider it a LW, but it carries well for me at 20 plus a little.
