Just curious what folks are using as far as binoculars with their Kit Bags? I have a pair of Vortex Viper 10x42's which fit in the front pocket but they're awful heavy and bulky. Played with a set of Zeiss Terra 8x25 pocket binoculars at the Outdoor Show in Pennsylvania this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised with them.

Sightron Blue Sky II 8x32 will work and they are not heavy

I don't have any room for binos in mine; I keep it stocked with Natural Light.

I don't put binoculars in my kit bag.

They're on a harness or strap around my neck.

I'm going to be going to a kit bag or something similar for my binos this next year. Want to find one that will hold a 10x40 bino and a garmin 62 gps.

That's the one I was looking at. Looks like a good way to go. I'm over having binos hanging from my neck.

I run 10X40 Leicas and.... some sort of gps in mine. HPG Heavy Recon kit bag.

I had a range finder in there this year too... no pistol means lots of room for other crap that I just have to have.

A wise man keeps beer in his bino bag--it's all about the best and highest use..........

I've been carrying my binoculars on one of those Rick Young bungee cord deals and really like it, but it rides in the same spot the kit bag would. Have you carried both at the same time?

RY is my favorite too.
I'm having a difficult time adjusting to any chest pack and I don't need extra gear in that pack. I use pockets and belt pouches for calls or compass or wind checker.

I wear my 8x20 Alpens on the neckstrap and tuck the binos under a thin bungee on the recon kb.

Oh yeah. Miles and miles.

That's one of the reasons I like the KB over other chest holsters. My binos don't smack again the gun all day.

Just as a point of comparison to the Kit bag: I carry binocs, rangefinder, lighter, small leatherman, BIC lighter, lens cloth, and cell-phone at all times, and sometimes run my Delorme in the AGC harness as well. I can't remember what it's called but this is the smaller model without the bottom pocket. I ran a Rick Young harness for a year before I got this deal and definitely prefer the AGC.

I keep my binoculars around my neck. I have two pair that I use regularly. I put a wide strap on both of them. One of them is made by Zeiss 8x30 from East Germany. I've had them for about 10 years. I bought them used on eBay.

The other pair is a Leupold, old style, I bought them new in the late 70s. 9X35 Poro prism, Gold rings.

Both of these have individual focus eyepieces. All of my friends want to hunt with my Leupolds.

I like the HPG kit bag but the zippers aren't terribly quiet for deploying binoculars. I end up leaving it half unzipped but then I have to be careful not to dump the pocket bending over.

I've never considered carrying binos in mine. All I use mine for is a pistol, and some possibles.

I should add I only have the Runner's version.

And besides, the fanny pack has plenty of room for the gps not to mention extra ammo and snacks.

I use the recon kit bag and added Blue Force Gear's 10 speed double pistol and AR mag pouches to the front, they hold my range finder and GPS. The large rear compartment hold only the Glock 19 or 23. Headlamp, lighter and fire starters go in the accessory pocket.

Variety is the spice of life.

I just wear bino's with the neck strap and let them hang over the kit bag (runners). One thing I like about this is that it puts a little distance between the bino lenses and my body. If the bino is against my shirt it may fog (external) if I start sweating on a hard climb.

Went on a short hike yesterday afternoon (70F!) and the kit bag works great for my pistol but the Vortex 10x40's are way too big/heavy to carry in the bag.

What is a kit bag?

A small chest pack, designed to carry a pistol and other stuff. Can be worn with a backpack so that if/when you shed the pack you still have your pistol handy. Go on the Hill People Gear website to check it out.

I have the original kit bag and it's very comfortable. I carry my rangefinder, caller remote and a drag strap up front. Compass, fire kit, meds, extra shells, hand calls, glasses and a small survival kit in the middle. The back carries any pistol I own and is all readily accessible.

Right now I carry my binos (8x30 Swaro's) on the neck strap off to my left side. Still playing with different ideas on how to wear the KB low and binos high on a harness.

I also use a AGC Kodiak CUB, but it's got no place for a pistol. IMHO, nobody's successfully converged the binopack and chest holster. The latest attempt is the Eberlestock Nosegunner, but it fails at doing both jobs.

While glassing I may let my binocs hang off my neck, but rarely when hiking.

I like the vero vellini neoprene binocular straps the best though I did get the harness type for the Leica geovids I purchased a couple of years ago

Personally I still prefer the vellini type.

When hiking I slip one arm through the strap and carry my binocs like a shoulder bag, under my non dominant arm ,doesn't matter if you're wearing a chest bag or not, I do at times, but not often.

Running Swarovski 8x30 CL in a recon kit bag on occassion. Rarely use it though so converting my kit bag into a tool kit for my new work assignment.
