I've got a buddy that wants to film an archer spot and stalk black bear hunt in the US. He wanted to head to AK and hunt brownies but the price is too high. Who's a good, high success outfitter, that works well with archery hunters?

Why not DIY black bear in Alaska?

There's also plenty of states with OTC non res tags he can utilize and some have liberal season.

Honestly, there's no reason to have to get an outfitter for black bear unless you want some oversized specimen from Vancouver Island.

Filming an DIY spot and stock hunt will probably gather more interest than any guided hunt. The trend these days is for self propelled, DIY adventures which appeals to "any man", or any person.

I saw a black bear every year for five years in a row. Then when I started carrying a tag they all disappeared. I will admit that Mendocino county California is where I saw the most bear. I don't know How much you're willing to spend but you could always check out The California Department of Fish and wildlife website and I'd focus on Mendocino County.

Check out Idaho and NW Montana for a DIY hunt. Lots of bears, and with a little research, you should be good to go.

I killed on a couple years ago with my compound in ID. 7 yards wasn't what I'd call a tough shot but I loved the hunt.

Maybe Idaho may be for him. There's units that have two bear limits. Second tags are cheap.

I guess he could look for other areas than I hunted. It would be a tough go where we were.

Anybody know a good outfitter that uses the S&S method?

Quinalt Indian tribe in Washington guides on their land, both spot and stalk or bait stations. Being tribal land there is less politcal bs and more then 1 bear can be taken. Price was something like 2k I want to say
