So I have convinced my 80-something year old father to sell some of his "someday" rifles (as in "someday that would be fun to fiddle with.") This is a right handed Winchester Model 70, rechambered into 300 H&H. He has not shot it, and in all likelihood I bought it for him here on the campfire.
The barrel is an original Winchester barrel, marked Supergrade, timed correctly, and nicely re-stamped to 300 H&H. The barrel has been cut to 24" with a nice recessed crown.
An early red pad era Classic, with serial number G210xx.
The stock is really nothing special, and has a couple of dings in it--one on the left grip and one near the bolt notch.
There is also a very faint ring in the finish of the barrel, probably from a steady rest during rechambering. The bright sunlight in which I took this photo probably makes it more apparent than it is to my eye.
The rifle also comes with brass and dies, as described in the next post (I have run out of room for pictures).
