Yea or nay.

I make Cabbage, Sausage, and onion fried in bacon grease now and then but I found a recipe that also calls for diced tomato's.
I'm thinking about trying it but I'm not sure.

What do ya'll think?

Go for it if you wish but I'd substitute some diced red bell peppers into the mix.

I don't think so.
I like em just fine the way I usually make em without turning this into a science project.
I was just wondering if anyone had actually made fried Cabbage with tomato's.

Tomato goes wonderfully with cabbage and pork, and I ain't a fan of tomatoes in general.

I like cabbage rolls as much as the next guy but I'll be damned if I can see what that has to do with fried cabbage and sausage.

Looks like there's more than one recipe with tomato's out there.
I guess I'll try it but I think I'll leave the bell peppers out.

I'm not sure that anyone that substitutes butter for bacon fat should call herself a "southern" lady though....

FG, I've never made the dish you're referring to, but it sounds good.

I have had cabbage soup that was built on a tomato base from a little Mom & Pop restaurant near where I used to live and it was incredible. I don't usually buy soup in quarts and gallons from restaurants, but this stuff was that good.

Been trying to emulate that recipe for years.

I'm good with any recipe that starts with "melt some bacon grease in a pan"! wink

Well....I finally got around to making a batch with tomatos tonight.
I don't know what I was worried about. One of my favorite dishes just got better
A great addition that I'll definitely stick with.

Nice.

I figure it'd take something south of an old boot to fugg up Sausage, cabbage, and onions. Those might be my three favorite food groups. Lol.

That said, I think 99 flung a craving on me. Might have to make a big batch of cabbage rolls this week.
