I was looking at stocks for a Winchester Timber Carbine, and noticed different lengths? Quickly searching on the net at pics of Timber Carbines, some have more material forward of the barrel band. Have a look:





And then there's some that have a shorter amount of material forward of the barrel band:





What is the difference?
