I could not resist chunking a little cash at this Gunbroker listing
http://www.gunbroker.com/item/620979069, any thoughts on the crack in the stock? I won't get it in hand for another 10 days or so.

yeah, I went on faith quite a bit. It might be a Supermatic, I did discover it is a mod. choke, and the seller did not know if anyone had tried to work on the cracked stock. . Hope the bore is really as good as it says. I have bought a few that said "really clean bright bore" that really were very dirty, dull bore. But the bore snake has worked wonders.

I found a replacement at Numrich Arms for a cracked stock on a 28 ga HS pump I got recently. I have way too much in that one now to ever come out on it; but I do like the gun. the stock I bought was unfinished and rough. I messed with it a little, 3x stained and then waxed it. Not really pretty but I only have users now. No beauty contestants in the gun room.

OK, got it in today, no beauty queen but I think it will make a shooter. Embarrassing question: Does anyone know if the action spring spacer butts up to the piston? or does it go at the other end of the action spring (up against receiver)? Yes, you guessed it, I opened it up and had a PSE event (parts scattered everywhere).... not sure I got them all back in correctly. smile

I tinkered on it a while, think it is good to go now, but I still don't find any kind of model name or number on this gun. Maybe a C-1200 deluxe, but that is just a guess.

that crack is from using the wrong tools trying to
remove the stock.
BTDT
it was also a high standard shotgun, but a pump.
fill it and forget it. mine worked great until
it went away. good luck. enjoy it.

Thanks, that does not surprise me at all. Someone has epoxyed it, a gorilla job ( strong but ugly) I will air it out on doves this Sept.

I found a High Standard forum; they told me it shipped in 1973. I found a crack in the mag. tube but I think I can get one from Numrich. It appears to be a C1200 Supermatic Delux. Thanks for the replies.

Test fired yesterday, mixed review. It fired and cycled, but 2 out of 9 hammerfalls did not set off the rounds. I will try a good clean'light lube and see how it does.

Still having the inconsistent firing pin strike issue. I am getting about 1/3 failures-to-fire. Any advice from someone familiar with this situation?
