A good bud just had an old Ruger tanger 7RM re-barreled with a 26" #3 Shilen in 270 Wby. He mainly hunts WT's, pronghorns, occasionally bigger stuff.
I load his ammo. What's a good place to start with that round. I have most powders, like Magnum, 7828, MagPro, 4831, MRP, etc., have a few 140 gr. NBT's on hand. He'll pick up what we need.

I use 7828 in mine. 72.0 grains and Barns TTSX 130 grain bullets. But be careful that's a maximum load in my gun anyway.

He likes Partitions. We'll have to see if it likes them
NAB's may be a back up. He's not a Barnes fan.
140's may be better in that round than 130's, as they'd be moving pretty fast, maybe too fast.

When Barns had the X bullet, I wasn't a fan of Barnes either. But when they came out with the TSX, I tried them and I liked them.

I like'em too.
But ain't my gun, or my choice.
I may try some TTSX's for grins.

I use RL-19 and 130 gr NBT's in my .270 Wby. What's terminal performance like, those NBT's at warp speed on critters, not counting jackwabbits... DF

Eventually I'd like to get a Ruger #1 in .270 Roy. Based on results so far I'd probably try Reloader 26 in it.

My Ruger #1 in .270 Weatherby likes 140g Hornady BTSP's over a max charge of 7828.

7828 seems to be popular, I have RL-22 and MRP, those two pretty close. I have some 140 NBT's on hand that will be first up.
PP 4000-MR and Superperformance are pretty close on the burn chart. I have both, may try them, have RL-19, as well.
My bud just gave me two boxes of Wby brass. They had it in a close out bin at Cabelas. He got them for $20 a box, or a buck a case, less than half retail ($45).
I told him, he done good...
40 cases should last him a while.

Had good luck with 7828 and 140gr TSX, 150gr BT's in a MkV 270Wby.

My load comes out of the Nosler book. 69.5 grain of Vihta N560 with a 150 grain bullet. This is good for 3200 fps in my custom 26 inch barrel.
It has been really accurate for me as well. Lots of three shot groups have been well under moa.

I like 7828 and RL 22. Can't tell much difference in accuracy but the RL is a significant gain in velocity. I've tried H 4831 and in the past and it's ball twin H450 with good results. I have some test loads with Mag Pro waiting for decent weather to test. Hasbeen
