Why not a good 23 for those states that won't allow 22 CF for deer, spin it fairly fast so it can handle heavier bullets. Just saying. Cheers NC

P.O. Ackley used to make 23 caliber bullets and chamber rifles in it for just that reason. It never caught on............

Was that the .228 Ackley, or some such? Can't remember offhand. I know he was fond of hunting with a 220 Swift, but when they outlawed the 22 calibers he started making his own 23s out of spite on different cartridge cases..........

Some states that outlaw 22 centerfires for BG have their laws stating something to the effect of "no caliber under .243" may be used."

Some states that outlaw 22 centerfires for BG have their laws stating something to the effect of "no caliber under .243" may be used." They do now - probably thanks to people like P.O. Ackley Making 23s back in the day before there were any such regulations.
