So they roll over to the muzzies without fighting, huh? War is hell, so live as a slave to your eventual killers, right?

I wouldnt say we are terrified of muzzies with AK, any more than i would say we are terrified of elk, coyotes or doves. Let the season open and watch.

With suckers like you in our govt i dont like the prospects of us losing malls or schools to the likes of those you love.

The Soviets used the same tactics against the Nazis at Stalingrad that the Finns had so successfully used against them in the Winter War. They did retain their independence during the war and were the inventors of the Molotov Cocktail. Not a nation to be trifled with.

Dear Morally Superior Genius,

If you will look at this a little deeper, you will see this is really not about dying for your country, but about whether people have enough love of heritage and national pride that they would be willing to protect what they have.

Mr. Northman, Are you Canadian? Are you Canadian by birth? Are you from India, Pakistan , Iran, or Syria? Are you from the Far East and holed up in your Vancouver paradise? What part of your cultural identity are you willing to protect or will you roll over when Sharia comes to your town? When women in your town can't wear shorts. When rapes quadruple. Theoretical nonsense? Hardly, do a search about conditions in Malmo, Sweden.

There are plenty of Quebecois that have a strong sense of cultural identity. How many of them are willing to have their schools inundated by sharia demanding immigrants that refuse to assimilate, speak French or bath regularly?

Oh, never mind. I wish you peace and a time machine that will transport you back to Haight/Asbury during the zSummer of Love.

A Finnish soldier named Simo Hayha, aka The White Death, killed 542 of the Russians. Those were the confirmed ones. He killed a good many more in the night attacks the Finns made, where they would ski thru a Russian camp blasting away with submachine guns. It was estimated that he alone was responsible for killing over 700.

There was an Anglo-French relief force headed for Finland that was diverted to
Narvik, Norway in 1940.

I will add that the French, namely 13eme Demi-Brigade LE, chased Student's Fallschrimjagers all the way to the Swedish border, where they were considering crossing over and becoming guests of the Swedish King. But the Brits sent orders out to fall back
As they had to all return to England for an expected invasion!

Never forget that it was the French who fought without ceasing to allow the British to evacuate from Dunkirk!

Yes, they became a totally socialist country after WWII (they had been mostly a socialist country since the French Revolution) and the populace fell victim to their socialist government at the beginning of WWII.

There is warrior heritage in the French. Look how long they fought against both England and Spain.

All things considered I suspect the French populace would be more likely to hunt down malcontents and hack them to pieces than either US or Australian citizens would.

It would pay not to sell anyone short, in Victoria here the state labor government is doing it's best to convince everyone that multiculturalism is a good thing...I think that lot of would-be rulers are in for the shock of a lifetime once people make up their minds just how far they will go to protect them and theirs.

Hardly surprising. NATO=USA. If I were from European country bordering Russia I would try to increase military budget and training. Given current situation I'm not sure how long the Empire from across the Atlantic is going to last.

The 137e Regt. Inf. made two bayonet charges at the Tetegham bridge May 1940. No Ammo. Second assault was a counter attack on the German counter! The regt was wiped out the following day I believe by Stuka sorties and the 1st Panzer div. Of the 1100 men there were about 40-50 survivors.

Another interesting read would be the Free French First Brigade action at Bir Hachiem in Libya. Once again saves Brit butt and stopped Rommel dead in his tracks.

Agree.

After driving to and fro in the US, I calculate 83.6% of the population is too afraid to pass a car on a two lane road...and 30% have a hissy fit is some else does...

Now the four lane is an entirely different critter...

French military leaders and politicians might have lost their balls from time to time, but the French soldier has always been a rough and tumble fighter. When they are well led and motivated, they compare well against any one.

Ed and Woody,

You've got this right. The French have never been afraid of a fight, they just grew weary of it after WWI. The Great War was a meat grinder. The French alone lost 1.4 million men in uniform. They lost almost 5% of their total population, and a huge % of the men between the ages of 18-30. I've been to small towns in France, and visited the local churches where the names of their sons fallen in battle are inscribed on plaques on the church walls. Imagine little towns of 5,000 people losing 100+ of their sons. That's virtually every family with conscript age boys lost someone.

The French were sick of war and death and infirmary after the Great War. Whereas the Germans wanted revenge for the loss and the punishment of the Treaty of Versailles, the French were finished with war. They learned what we did in Vietnam before we did. They learned about the Muslims by fighting in Algeria 50 years before we did.

The French military is fun for us to bash, but don't discount them totally.

Does anyone know why the "white" flag is the symbol to treat with an enemy for terms?

The flag of the House of Bourbon was a white cross of St. George with 4 white cantons. If you wished to parley with your enemy on 17th and 18th century battlefields your assembled your field musicians (drum and fire) who would be instructed to play a military air or honors from the opppsing side and you would also display the opposing sides primary colors.

During the assorted wars from Queen Anne's to the Seven years war the Bourbon flag was displayed so many times( chiefly by the Brits) in order to seek terms, it became generally accepted as an international symbol for the purpose.

Example would be the Duke of Cumberland, William Augustus. Favorite son of George II. Hero of the Jacobite slaughter at Colluden. He surrendered his entire regiment in Germany without firing a shot. Simply because two French officers entered his camp and told him he was hopelessly surrounded!

Willingness to fight probably depends on what kind of war. Consider our own history.

On December 8, 1941, probably almost all Americans would have been willing to fight.

But look at Viet Nam. We had not been attacked. It was a big stretch to believe that South Viet Nam falling would be all that bad for us. The government we were defending were obvious dictators, and corrupt. Our government lied to us about things like the Tonkin Gulf incident. Vietnamese young men were not drafted but young Americans were.

So naturally more Americans would have been willing to fight World War II than the Viet Nam War.

Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

Democrats would burn this country to the ground, if they could rule over the ashes.
