Is ER Shaw still in business? I've been trying to order a barrel. They don't answer the phone and they don't call back. I left messages last week and today. Anybody been able to get in touch with them?

They are still open.

Sometimes they are just busy.
Just keep trying.

I have ordered online with no problems.

They have ALWAYS been lax on the phone answering. I used to live close and just drove there for a re-barrel. 17 years later and I've never shot it because after two trips back because the recoil lug was crooked (and I'm not talking a little bit) I got disgusted with the gun. Guess I'll fix it someday.

Can you order a barrel from E.R.Shaw online? How (can you explain and post a link)?

I'm thinking he's old school. On-line used to mean on the phone.

I got my order in for a 375 barrel. Unfortunately they don't chamber for 375 Whelen. So, I'll be looking for a rental reamer when the barrel arrives.

Here's their website.

You still have to call or email. The online store doesn't have a cart. Here is the contact page:

I'm building a pair of 98's right now in .270 with #1 ER Shaw barrels, have not test fired them yet, but they are certainly nice looking well finished barrels and you can't argue with the price too much.

Yeah, and you'll get a better barrel, done the way you want it. Keeping in mind you get what you pay for.

Here's my experience regarding the quality of E.R. Shaw barrels. I have two. I found a 250 Savage barrel for Savage rifles on the Midway site and bought it for around $130. I had it screwed onto a Savage Axis rifle I owned and it shoots like crazy. I liked it so much that I converted another Savage Axis rifle to 257 Roberts with a barrel I ordered from Shaw. It also shoots great. My plan had been to have the first barrel rechambered to 257 Roberts, but it shoots so well that I didn't dare mess with it. Shaw delivered the barrel in less time than they estimated, too. I think it was about eight weeks, and they said twelve. I had to buy a magazine for the 22-250 for the 250 Savage rifle to feed properly. The Roberts rifle feeds just fine with either the 243 magazine or the 308 magazine from the original factory rifles.

Yes, you have to be persistent to get someone on the phone, but it's worth it.
