I've got a great hunting loads worked up for Barnes 165 grain TTSX's in both a .30-06 and a .300 WM. I also happen to have a fair amount of 165 grain Interlocks on hand, and I seem to recall that the bearing surface of both bullets is similar.

Obviously, I'd work-up fresh loads for the Interlocks, but would it be unreasonable to assume that I might end up at roughly the same powder charge?

IMO they're different enough so that's not a good assumption.

I think the big difference is mono vs cup and core, which can cause vast differences in my experience.

Edit to add: There have been a couple rounds where it seemed I couldn't get enough powder in the case to achieve similar velocities with the TSX vs a normal bullet. The 9.3x62 with Big Game and 286s for instance.

I load the 165 TTXS in my 06 and 300Win. I load them my 300H&H also. The should shoot to same point of impact. I don't think powder charge will be same. What does load info say? I have never loaded many Hornady bullets.

Both the TSX's and Hornady Interlocks tend to produce less pressure than most other bullets, but how much compared to each other depends on the specific bullet weight. The lighter-for-diameter TSX's, with fewer "bands," result in less pressure than others.

You can probably get those two bullets to shoot to the same velocity by tweaking the charge with the Interlock, but whether they'll shoot to the same place is another question.

I have one rifle, a .257 Roberts, where 100-grain Tipped TSX's and 100-grain Ballistic Tips shoot to the same place with the same powder charge. You just never know until you try.
