Welcome to the 21st Century...

It still has to pass the Senate but this should make Clark especially happy next Christmas Eve.

With all the Muzzies in MN, I'm surprised they didn't ban liquor instead. smirk

PA is weird as [bleep]. Can't go to the gas station to buy a 6 pack, but I can buy a 6 pack at the bar, for about double the price.

I grew up hearing my dad say that all the time. Especially when we were taking our Sunday drive to Wisconsin so he could get a bottle and some beer because my uncles were coming over to shoot.

In TN, we went to a tittybar. You couldn't buy a beer in there but you could go right next door, buy a beer and bring it in the tittybar and drink it. What's up with that?

It's not uncommon to drive past one of the local watering holes and see 3-4 locals standing outside passing around a bottle.

At 9 AM on a Sunday morning.

That must be something new. The ones in Memphis use to sell beer ($5 each in the late 80s) and you had to be drinking/buying or get kicked out.

You can't buy liquor here on Sunday from a store, but you can buy beer after noon. Restaurants are allowed to sell cocktails and beer after noon on Sunday. No beer or liquor sells allowed after midnight any night. And then some counties are still dry and allow no alcohol sales at all. Some cities are in multiple counties and you can buy it on one side of the street but not the other. Crazy laws.

This was in Knoxville around 2001.

You can buy liquor and regular strength beer after noon on Sunday at bars that serve food in MN. Just no off sale (take home) unless you want 3.2 slop from the gas station.

That's very common in the south.

They don't have a license to sell but the law allows you to bring your own inside.

It applies to lot of restaurants too.

I'm all for freedom and all,....but if they didn't control liquor up in the depressing, frozen wasteland known as Minnesota, they'd have to spend every day scooping drunks up off the sidewalk with a fuggin' front loader.

It is a time honored tradition to make booze runs to neighboring states. Wisconsin,Iowa, N & S Dakota all have bottle shops close to the border.
They use to quit selling off sale liquor at 8 pm. Wisconsin was midnight or 1 am. Made a lot of 11 pm drunken runs to Wisconsin to get another case and a bottle.

I don't need to buy beer before noon on a Sunday and why would any armed person with a pair of nuts have to run out their back door?

Well its just the House, it has to go further. The Senate will probably pass it and Gov. Dayton already said he'd "sign it" - but he is well known to change his mind - depending on whether or not his meds have kicked in.

Then they out to repeal the ban on selling cars on Sunday too.

Limiting the days of the week somebody can buy alcohol is almost as stupid as not allowing kids to sit at a bar with their parents which is almost as stupid as dui checkpoints.

But nothing is as dumb as telling a gas station owner he can't sell booze.

Well as a former MN resident, who lived close to the 'Sconsin border.... I can see where you have that point of view...

But MN limitations wasn't a problem, we just crossed the St Croix River and all of that wasn't an issue...

a simple reason why I love MOST of Wisconsin's laws over MN...

however the State Police were Nazis over on your side of the River....

would have lost my license in MN, courtesy of WI.. for getting 4 speeding tickets in Wisconsin in less than a year... all gotten on the interstate, in the middle of Nowhere, for exceeding the National 55 mph Speed Limit...

two were for doing 57 in a 55 zone, one for 56 in a 55 zone and one where I was really blowing down the highway doing 58 in a 55 zone... all were with the cruise control on and involved heading down hill, where the car picked up a mile or two per hour....

that kinda sucked about your fair state...

I solved the problem by going up to North Dakota, got a PO Box and put ND Plates and changing to a ND D/L....

as long as you pay the ticket out of state, it didn't go on your ND D/L....

Crossing across Missour on I 70 on a really hot day, I stopped off the interstate to get fuel and went into the little store to buy a beer to drink before I hit the road...

The lady told me that I couldn't buy just one.. I had to buy 3 for her to sell it to me...told me it was a State or local ordinance...

the thought was, buying one lead to drinking and driving...

buying three meant you were going to go home and drink it...

I think the law was passed by Drunks Against Mad Mothers ( MADD), Just to thumb their nose at them bimbos...

In North Dakota all stores close between midnight and noon on Sunday. We can buy alcohol.......but it has to be after noon. Restaurants were finally able to sell drinks at 11am on Sunday a couple of years ago.

I actually find this statement offensive.

A-fugking-men.

Ironically, the most laid back state when it came to alcohol and liquor laws I think I've lived in was Maryland. I don't think they had any limitations that I can recall.

In another turn of irony, the very conservative state of TX had some of the stupidest GD laws involving alcohol you could think of.

Louisiana wins the alcohol laws. Sweet Jesus, you can even buy a bottle of Vodka at Toys-R-Us.

I recall a few visitors at work that asked 'Where to buy liquor' and I told them it would be quicker to list the places that you can't buy liquor.

Can't stomach a Daiquiri, but you have to appreciate the drive thru Daiquiri shops.

Hell, for a good while you could buy beer at 18 in Louisiana but the drinking age was 21.

You can still go into a bar in Louisiana with your parents/guardian and drink at 18.

Hell, it's also legal for passengers in your car/truck to drink in Tennessee (no law against open container), I know that is the way in several states.

It's legal to drink and drive in MS, though local laws might override it.
