I'd trust the 130 TSX/TTSX WAY more than I'd trust a NBT at 3,500... One would think the NAB should hold together better than a NBT, but some refer to Accubonds as accubombs... SSII's may hold up at that speed. I've said on numerous posts, matching bullet construction with velocity is an art. A great bullet at 2,800 fps may be a disaster at 3,500 fps. DF

The Ballistic Tip is a 3200fps bullet (according to Nosler). The 150 grain BT at that velocity works great in the 270 Weatherby. The 130 grain BT is probably better suited in a 270 Winchester.

My buddy has a .270 Win and likes 130 gr. NPT's. He was thinking 130's would shoot really flat in the .270 Wby.
I need to work out drop and energy with 130's, 140's and 150's. Sometimes higher B.C.'s compensate for slower MV. 140's seem to be popular in the Wby.
If anyone has already done that research, I'd appreciate the info.

I use 140 gr NAB for Whitetails with great results. But where I hunt shots are generally at least 100 yds. Last years were 211 and 306. I am going to use it for hogs this year and am going to try Barnes 140 TSX. If they come to the feeder they are close. My buddy from Houston uses a 7mm STW with Barnes with good luck. Not sure what grain

I ran several loads thru Hornady's Ballistics Calculator.
As I suspected, B.C. can make up for velocity loss with heavier bullets.
I ran 130 and 140 NAB's, 130 and 140 NPT's, 150 ABLR at Load Data velocities and found the trajectories out to 600 yds. within just an inch or so except the 140 NPT (5").
My bud doesn't twist, will have a 200 yd. zero, hold 5", 10" and 15" for 300, 350 and 400 yds. respectively.
We'll see which bullets the gun likes and go from there.

I took my recently purchased used Mark V(Howa) to the range yesterday. It has one of the worst stocks for cheek weld of any weatherby I owned. That said, shooting 29.99 a box factory 130's it shot under an inch. Yeah its a keeper. I cannot wait to load some cutting edge bullets to see how it does with them.
