Ramshot Magnum.
Just to be odd man out. Recall an email reply from gent at Ramshot about using their Magnum in a 6.5x55 rifle. He kinda thought I'd be better off using their Hunter powder....that the Magnum was too slow a powder, less velocity from it and etc. Well, he may have been right, but my Magnum 6.5x55 loads are consistently more accurate for me. For my 7mm WSM and Berg 180s, Hunter need not apply.
I do not entertain hypotheticals. The world itself is vexing enough. -- Col. Stonehill

I use Ramshot Magnum for my 264 WM for long range hunting and RL-17 in my 30 inch barreled 30-06 for the 1 mile steel at the Whittington Center in Raton NM.

I have had pretty good results with Hogdon H4831SC under a 180 gr Berger match hybrid target bullet - I use Norma brass and Fed. 215 mag match primers . This feed a 7mm REM Mag well.

Really boils down to what my rifle likes...Retumbo in my 7 Wby, and just developed a load in the 250 AI with I4350 and a 117 grn bullet. My load for deer this fall.

The best for that round and bullet, to get me the most accuracy( not always the best ES/SD) and the most MV at the same time, while being temp stable as can be.
Which means it could be any powder...
N540 was my go to for 223 out to 1000 in the service rifle...accurate and fast...
I don't count anything out until holes in the paper tell me to.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

Which have you found to have good ES & SD ? Ole mike, The new Reloader 23 powder is supposedly designed specifically to produce good ES & SD numbers. I haven't tried it yet but the burn rate should be about right for the 280 AI pushing a 162 ☺ Alliants new Reloader 26 is designed specifically for velocity, not ES, SD so you might not see the best results If you decide to try it. Trystan
Good bullets properly placed always work, but not everyone knows what good bullets are, or can reliably place them in the field

I've mostly liked h4350, h4831sc, h1000 over the past 10 years. One exception is I have a few guns that really like 7828 and a few that I've even went off the rails and ran a ball powder, superformance, and had amazing results. 15 years ago I was heavy on RL 15,19,22, and 25 but I pretty much went away from all of them except I still love some 15. I'm playing some of the new alliant stuff now and liking it. Ar comp is great and 33 is awesome in a 28 nosler. Ill be trying some 16, 23, and 26 this spring.
I also burn lots of benchmark. It's great in 223, 22-250 with 40's, 243's and 6mm's with 55's, and my guide gun 45/70 loves it under a 350 hornady flat point. My creedmoor, 260, 7-08, and 30-06 couldn't live without h4350, and my 300wsm does amazing things with 4831sc. H1000 for 105's in the 243 and 7mag or 300 win stuff.
