I've got a 620 w/ the two piece barrel. I've had no problems. The S&W 620 has become my favorite 357 Mag, just as the 329PD has become my favorite 44 Special. The 620 is a fantastic package, not too big, not too small, 7 shot, accurate, SS, carries well... I've got to admit, I've been looking at the 329PD all wrong. It is best as a 44SPC. I find the 329PD too light to be comfortable shooting full power 44 Magnum loads, but it is by far my favorite 44 Special with a 240 grain SWC at 1,000 fps.

The X frame grip, which I heard about on this forum, make 1150 fps feel like 1000 fps with the original grip.

I own a lot of S&W's, but the newest ones were made in 1981. MIM, no; 2 piece barrels, no; and no IL for this guy.

One thing is for sure. I never heard of a one piece barrel falling off. Just saw a video of a Ruger Redhawk 44 Mag barrel coming off during firing. I believe that's why we have the SRH now. 2 piece does have some advantages (do own research). If I was a high volume shooter I think I'd prefer it.

The Redhawk barrel problem was caused by over-torquing that part during installation. Ruger identified and corrected the problem.

No different than 2 piece barrels, when they are executed correctly there is no problem.

I guess now I have to get specific and say I never heard of a one piece barrel falling off just by carrying it in a holster.
